These are not good times for veteran Nigerian actress, Omotola Jalade, as her old tweets resurfaced following the report released by the Lagos State Judicial Panel on EndSARS.
Several Nigerians on the microblogging platform have trolled the actress, with many others calling for the boycott of her latest body of work, Alter Ego, which is due to feature on Netflix.
The Panel had, on Monday, disclosed that not less than eleven #EndSARS protesters were killed at the Lekki tollgate on October 20, 2020.
The panel revealed this in the report submitted to the Lagos State Government on Monday.
This is slightly contrary to the viral old tweets of the actress who urged families of the people who died at the Lekki Tollgate shootings, “if there were any” to come out and speak.
In her tweet, she also admonished young people to stop sensationalizing the development as it does not eradicate the crime and would further instigate chaos.
The 43-year-old actress, as of the time of the event, wrote:
“If people died during the Lekki Toll gate Assault, let their people speak out please and if there were no deaths then enough with the sensationalization because it does not remove from the Crime that happened. peaceful Protesters were attacked. Why? By Whom?”
Reacting to Omotola’s old tweet on the Lekki Massacre, a Twitter user, tife.classy wrote:
“Their people should speak out abi hanty, shey those people that most of them don’t have access to the internet, some victims parents are old and they just decide to leave the matter in God’s hand. This really got me angry, are you blind sis? Were you not on social media? Where were you when people were posting the victims family then and recently too, where the parent are crying and saying they leave the matter to God because they don’t have the power to fight the government. Some yeyebrities sha.”
